Issues distributing packages and receiving Win32 Error = 0

Within the last month or so, we've been experiencing issues distributing various packages to our DP's. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it; it can be any combination of packages and DP's.

We've noticed that just before the Win32 error occurs, the following 4 lines usually precede the error:

UpdateStagedFile failed; 0x80070040

UpdateStagedFolderRdc failed; 0x80070040

UpdateStagedFolderRdc failed; 0x80070040

UpdateStagedFolderRdcW failed; 0x80070040

We've had an open ticket with MS for over a week now, but there hasn't been any progress.

Any light you guys could shed on this would be greatly appreciated!

I can't get the check box for "Require administrator approval if users request this application"to be avialable when creating a deployment for a Package in SCCM 2012.

I am deploying it to a User collection and setting the Purpose to Available but that doesn't fix it.

Do anyone have any idea?

How to Advertise Task Sequence thru vbscript / Powershell

Hi Team,

I have an automation script which publishes a package in SCCM. Package, program, collection, advertisement all are working fine. While dealing with multiple dependency packages, we took the choice of creating task sequences for all the dependency packages and advertise it.

Im able to create a task sequence thru script successfully, but im trying to figure out how to advertise the task sequence thru script. Even with SDK, im not finding any script examples to advertise a task sequence. Even google doesn't have any worthy search results for my issue.

Can someone help me out, how to advertise a task sequence? or divert me to the right area where such examples are available.

Clients added to collection after deploying packages.

I have noticed a number of times that after I deploy an application or package to a collection, any devices that may get added to that collection seem not to pick up the deployment. Is this normal or do I need change a configuration somewhere to allow this to occur?

How does a script know its in a task sequence?

I want to pass a variable back to a task sequence from a script.  This script is in a package, and could be run as an advert or from the TS.  If I try to enable Microsoft.SMS.TSEnvironment and I'm not in a TS, it will generate an error.

Is there a way I can KNOW that I'm in a TS prior to doing so?

SCCM Package Not Loading

$

We have a distribution point that is getting the .pck file copied to it but it never successfully unpacks that file and load it onto the DP Share. When the unpacking gets to the very end it fails and then starts over again in a constant loop. Each time it does this the temp folder is automatically removed and it starts to unpack to a new temp folder.

This package is loading on the other DPs fine.

Some of the errors I've noticed are:

Clients installing packages correctly but not reporting back

$

Hi,

I've come on to a clients site who had a 3rd party come in and deploy SCCM 2007 for them and did not much of a hand over. I've cleaned up as I can but I have something that has stumped me.

For almost all packages deployed, the packages are installed and work fine, however no status message is every returned\processed by the clients. So the reports always show no Status. I've dug through the client execmgr.log and found the following single line

VerQueryValue failed for ProductName, file C:\Windows\system32\CCM\Cache\MEL000A5.1.S-1-5-21-4078366174-1947741836-1944681223-28565\install-connectorID-Key-5_6_1-winStandard.exe, error 1813

However a few lines later

Execution is complete for program Stratusphere FIT. The exit code is 0, the execution status is Success

In the server I've check the Offer, Mp, and Invproc logs none are showing any errors. The inboxes "look" clean but I'm no experts when it comes to those.

Any suggestions on where to look next?

Cheers

JL

Optional Deployment with Deadline

I want a deploy a Office 2013 package and my design is like that ;

1. The package content should be downloaded by all the clients as soon as possible.
2. Users should have option to install this package until the deadline that I set this package for. (If the start installation the content will be already in their local.)
3. At the end of this deadline the package should be installed automatically.

I know this can perform in software update management (patch management) but I want to do this for an (Office 2013 package ) installation script.

Is it possible ?

Hash mismatch issue

Hello Experts

I am experiencing hast mismatch when downloading packages from RAP. i have gone through most of forums, blogs but doesn't seems helping it. few packages have issues with few DPs only not even all packages on specific DPs. so i am struggling to understand issue with package or DP. i have done below steps to resolve prob but no luck.

1. Refresh package on DP, but no luck.

2. Deleted package from DP, waited to update status for an hour. updated source version manually in DB.

update pkgstatus set Status = 2 where id = 'package Id' and sitecode = 'Sitecode' and type = 1
update pkgstatus set SourceVersion = 0 where id = 'packageID' and sitecode = 'Sitecode' and type = 1

re-distributed package on DP.

can someone suggest on this.

Thanks.!

Install Package Using RunAs

Hello,

I am running SCCM 2007 R3 and I created my first software package (SCOM 2012 R2 Agent).  I have a simple batch file that checks whether the OS is 32 or 64 bit and determines which .exe to run.  The package gets created and copied down to the clients, but I do not see any progress.  I guess it's because it is using the local System account.  How can I get the package to run under an account that has Administrative rights on the clients?

Deployed Package Execution - Is there a way to execute a package a host has remotely through the client?

If I have an Program/Package deployed to clients so they can manually run it as needed, is there a way I can remote execute that package on the targeted machine locally (but programattically) instead of having to interface with the SCCM server?  Like, through a WMI class or something?  Thanks.

I am trying to install a software via task sequence.  I verified all the permissions are correct and the allow to be installed.... is checked.  The package was working fine in the past but now I am constantly getting the error above.  The other command lines run great before and after the software portion on the TS but the software always fails.  Here is the exemgr log. Can someone offer some insight on what I am missing.

Help with Task Sequence to Deploy software that has prerequisites

I have created a task sequence to deploy my software as it needs to have c++ and msxml installed first so I created a collection with my test VM and set a advertisement to deploy as soon as possible but nothing is happening.

I have been through the logs on the VM but can't see anything to say that it even hit the VM so was wondering if there was somewhere that I can see on the server why it is not deploying?

software packages are not distribution to a SCCM 2007 secondary site - not decompressing

Hello,

I have a secondary site in my SCCM 2007 which is not de-cpompressing packages.

the packages are coming down to the 'SMSPKG' folder as .pkg files, but it is not de-compressing into the SMSPKGS$ folder.

I updates one of the smaller packages to re-push the package down and this is what I have seen in the despool.log on the child site

This is happening for all packages on this child site so its not really package related, please could someone provide some insight to what I can do to fix this.

thanks

.iss answer file not working with deployment

I have a number of InstallShield executables which have answer files generated for deployment via SCCM2007. Unfortunately the deployment doesn't work. It launches the exe then does nothing and eventually times out. Normally I'd finger the .iss file as badly set up, but it applies correctly when the exe is manually launched, including launching with SYSTEM account from the local CCM Cache.

I've tried several variations on the launch the latest being: %~dp0appname\setup /s /a /s /sms /f1"%~dp0appname\setup.iss"

also %~dp0appname\setup /s

%~dp0centerpoint\setup /s /f1"%~dp0centerpoint\setup.iss"

and others from various net articles, but the result is always the same

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?
