Hi,

I have deployed Lync 2013 Client on the machines, I have created OU Collection based on locations.

we have four locations out of 3 the client is distributed and installed well. but one of the site is having issues the client is not being installed and the status is waiting for the content.

I don't understand how to troubleshoot it even the application is distributed successfully on the DP of that site.

can you please help?

I have just returned from a very pleasant annual leave to find that DP1 is flooded with site status messages for the SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER component; these are repetitions of the same three messages:

"SMS Distribution Manager is starting to distribute package ..."
"SMS Distribution Manager successfully processed package ..."
The package in question is an OS Image, which is only published to DP2. I am at a loss to understand why it is continually trying to publish to DP1 (over 33,000 entries for this component as I write this)
Note that these messages are "information" level messages, not errors, but are causing the Site Status for DP1 to continually "red flag"

Are there any logs etc I can check on this server to debug and diagnose why this rogue package is trying to process itself on this server? And any steps I can take to kill this?

package not successfully deploying to all computers

hey all,

got a weird issue with a software deployment that i'm troubleshooting, using SCCM 2007.

i have a logged off package that uninstalls an instant message client (Pandion), removes the program's installation directory, then installs another client (Spark) and copies a Jar file to the Spark installation directory.

the package completes successfully on XP systems, but seems to have an issue with Windows 7; first, it doesn't remove the Pandion installation directory, but removes most of the files/folders within, maybe a process still in use preventing this?

second, and more important, the Jar file isn't being copied.

i can manually copy the Jar file and even use psexec to run the batch and it works fine, but i've run into a number of instances where the Jar file doesn't get copied when the package initially runs.

any thoughts on how i can troubleshoot this?  the challenge being that it's a logged off install (required) so i can't really see what's happening.

thanks for your time!

constantly getting error 10057 with software deployments

hey all,

i'm seeing this error a lot, and haven't had much luck determining the cause.

Last Status Message ID Last Status Message Name
10057 Program failed (download failed - content mismatch)

anyone have any ideas about this error?  i've been troubleshooting it for some time (recreating packages/programs, updating/recreating distribution points), nothing seems to work.  i've tried pretty much all of the suggestions that i've come across.

it's a pretty inconsistent issue; i see it happen for almost every deployment i do- the error happens more with some than others.  i'm guessing it's an issue with the package files getting downloaded to the workstation, but haven't really found a consistent"culprit" in my research.

any would be greatly appreciated!

Missing software applications in Run Advertised Programs on newly built Client machines

Hi,

We are experiencing a weird issue in our infrastructure. When we setup a new Windows7 machine, the applications in the RAP go missing when we boot the machine. This is happening on almost all the newly built machines from last 3-4 weeks.

When we re-install the SCCM agent on the machines, it works but we have to do it on every machines that we setup. Not sure what exactly is going wrong here.

Thanks

Hi,

There is this small script i am attempting to distribute and have just created the package and advertised it to a collection.

It's been nearly 30 minutes now and not one PC has recieved it. I did run machine policy retrieval and evaluation policy. It's as if like the advertisement does not exist!

offersum.log has the below entry and nothing more. Please let me know if there are other logs I can check for this.

Error in deploying applications in a task sequence

$

Hello,

I am facing a strange behaviour of using task sequences for software distribution.

in order to update existing clients a task sequence was created. (this procedure was successfully used over the years). The newly created task sequence is a copy of the an older successfully used one.

This time the task sequence stops and none of the approx. 25 steps is applied. Even steps which have been successful don't work anymore. (0x80008014)

This is what I have done:

  • Create a new TS with just one application. ==> same error
  • Used the "old" TS ==> doesn't install missing applications
  • installation of the ts from different distribution points ==> same error
  • used the new TS on new customized install.wim (patches till April )==> same error
  • used the new TS on old customized install.wim  (patches till August)==> same error

I searched the internet but couldn't find any hints what it could be.

It seems to me that this problem is connected to the new ts. But even creating a new one don't solve this issue.

Any ideas are welcome,

Thanks

Andy

Updates Patches at logoff or shutdown

There have been a few things about this, but I just want clarification.

We have just installed SCCM 2012 R2 and are 'kind of reluctantly' using it for patching.

Is there really no way that patches can be scheduled and installed at shutdown rather then requiring the user to log off at the end of the deadline?

Deleting packages doesn't delete the files from the Distribution Point

$

Hi,

I have one primary site with one site server acting as my one single server for everything.

I deleted a bunch of Software Update packages in order to reclaim space on my single SCCM drive.

After deleting the packages, I looked at the SMSPKG and SMSKPKGD$ folder, and it appears the pacakge files are still there.

Is there an easy way to identify which ones were deleted? and if so, can i manually delete them?

Im looking for an easy way to do this, since the actual package was deleted in the SCCM console.

Here is a separate post which describes the problem im having, but nobody seemed to have a good answer for it ...

Please advise.

need to create exclusion list

$

hey all,

i need to create an exclusion collection, this will be used for advertisements that need to be sent to all computers in our company, but will ignore the computers that we add to this collection.

ie: i send an advertisement to my "all computers" collection, but the advertisement skips the computers that are in my "exclusion" collection.

we have a number of these setup already; the "all computers" collection is the parent collection, which contains two sub-collections for each exclusion scenario, the actual "exclusion" collection with the computers to be skipped, and the "all computers minus <exclusion>" collection, which would be the resulting list of all computers without the computers to be skipped.  make sense? :)

i set one of these up a long time ago, and have forgotten how to.  i see a number of posts regarding how to use SQL statements to make this happen, but the way i did it didn't require SQL lines to be added, i believe it was all done through the context menus in the ConfigMgr console.

can anyone help point me in the right direction?

thanks!

Task sequence - current working directory not pointing to task sequence cache

$

I'm running a task sequence consisting of 3 separate command lines. The task sequence uninstalls the Tivoli Monitoring Agent using a customized vendor script (uninst.cmd). The task sequence is as follows:

Group - Uninstall Tivoli 6.2.3 FP3 (run only if the Tivoli agent v. 6.3.2 FP3 is installed)

1 - Create log file - (Command line) CMD.exe /c ECHO %DATE% %TIME% Starting Tivoli 6.2.3 FP3 uninstallation.>C:\Logs\Tivoli623FP3x-uninstall.log

2 - Log the current working directory - (Command line) CMD.exe /c ECHO %DATE% %TIME% Working directory: [%CD%].>>C:\Logs\Tivoli623FP3x-uninstall.log

3 - Run the agent uninstallation script - (Command line) CMD.EXE /C %CD%\UnInstall.cmd

It is our standard practice to generate step-by-step log files for all task sequences in addition to the usual log files generated by SCCM. This allows us to track the actual progress of the task sequence and pinpoint where possible errors occur.

The task sequence advertisement is set to download all package contents locally before running and use a remote DP if no local DP is available. I'm using SCCM 2007 R2. The 2 target servers are running Windows 2012 R2 servers.

Prior to running the task sequence, I've tested the whole sequence manually by running each command line from within the target servers and encountered no errors. The problem appeared after I started advertising the task sequence. The task sequence runs the first 2 tasks without an issue but fails when it attempts to execute the third command line to run the uninstall script file.

When I checked the installation log files in the target servers, I found the following:

- Thu 10/02/2014 15:53:17.86 Starting Tivoli 6.2.3 FP3 uninstallation.

- Thu 10/02/2014 15:53:18.14 Working directory: [C:\windows\system32].

The working directory is set to [C:\windows\system32] instead of the SCCM cache directory [C:\Windows\SysWOW64\CCM\Cache] where the package contents are downloaded.

I also checked the execmgr.log files in both target servers and found that the working directory is getting set to the system32 folder:

- Successfully prepared command line "C:\windows\SysWOW64\CCM\TSLauncher.exe"

- Command line = "C:\windows\SysWOW64\CCM\TSLauncher.exe", Working Directory = C:\windows\system32\

Because of this, the command line to run the uninstallation script is failing.

I have some questions -

1 - What could be the reason why the working directory is set to C:\windows\system32 ?

2 - How do I make the task sequence point the working directory to the SCCM cache folder?

Thanks.

Ramon

SCCM 2007 - Package Creation

By default, when you are creating a Package in SCCM.  The name, version, manufacturer and language fields are present.

When typing in the version, manuf or lang fields, it then appears in the name - how can that be disabled?

Eg.

Name: Latest Google Chrome

Version: 36.143.4.00

Language: en

SCCM will then name the package Latest Google Chrome 36.143.4.00 en when all we want it to say is "Latest Google Chrome" but still have the version and language to be associated to the package.

We want everything to be separate and not affect the name we choose. Can this be done and if so, how?
